MY ESSAY ON THE 2ND PART OF RUM HADITH & SHEIKH IMRAN HOSEINS - TopicsExpress

MY ESSAY ON THE 2ND PART OF RUM HADITH & SHEIKH IMRAN HOSEINS RESPONSE: A Hadith on Rum tells us in the end times we will make an alliance with Rum. After the victory there would be an argument among a Muslim and a Christian soldier and as a result there would be a huge war between the Muslim and Christian army. Our beloved teacher Sheikh Imran Hosein says this Hadith is in conflict with the Quran. The Sheikh says it is in conflict with the Quran and common sense because these (Christians) are the people who are closest in love and affection for you (Muslims). The Sheikh also asked us to find other verses of the Quran which are related to this subject and we should study. And that is exactly what I did using the same methodology our teacher has been telling us to apply when studying Islamic Eschatology. As far as Im concerned, I did not find any of the Rum Hadith in conflict with the Quran, and neither is the 2nd part of the Hadith which the Sheikh has mentioned. In Surah Maeda verse 82, Allah says ....You will find that the nearest in friendliness to the Believers are those, who say, We are Christians. Allah then explains why they would be nearest in friendliness to the Believers (Muslims), ...This Is because there are among them some pious scholars and monks and because they are free from pride. But the Hadith on Rum refers to an Army, they are not monks, scholars nor priests, rather they are arrogant people who use their cross to show superiority over the Muslims, in other words they are not free from pride as the Quran mentions. The Hadith is very specific, it talks about a strategic alliance between a Muslim force and Rum, it does not say you will make an alliance with Christian Priests and scholars, but the Quran specifically mentions why those Christians would be nearest to the believers in affection, because among them are priests and monks. On the next ayah Allah says, And when they hear what has been revealed to the Messenger (Muhammad Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam), you see their eyes overflowing with tears because of what they have recognized of the truth. They say, Our Lord, we have believed, so register us among the witnesses. (5:83) In other words they believe in Allah and the last prophet and take Shahada. In the next ayah Allah mentions why they would become the true believers and take the Shahada: And why should we not believe in Allah and what has come to us of the truth? And we aspire that our Lord will admit us [to Paradise] with the righteous people. (5:84) And in the next ayah Allah mentions the reward for those Christians who accepted the truth and became Muslims: So Allah rewarded them for what they said with gardens [in Paradise] beneath which rivers flow, wherein they abide eternally. And that is the reward of doers of good. (5:85) In the next Ayah Allah mentions about those who did not accept the truth and remained as they were: But those who disbelieved and denied Our signs - they are the companions of Hellfire. (5:86) The Sheikh mentions that Surah Maeda 82 refers to our time, but if you try to read and understand not just verse 82, but from 82 to 86, it is quite clear that the verses are not specific to our time. Let us now go back to the very beginning of Surah Maeda Verse 82: You will surely find the most intense of the people in animosity toward the believers [to be] the Jews and those who associate others with Allah... In this ayah, we learn that the people who are more intense in their animosity towards Muslims are the Jews and the Mushrikeen. Why do they have hatred? It is because the Jews refuse to accept Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam) as a Messenger of Allah. The Jews and idol worshippers never showed love and affection towards Prophet (SA). They plotted against him, his companions and his Ummah till this day. Allah mentions in Verse 83 the reaction of those pious Christians when the truth is revealed to them And when they hear what has been revealed to the Messenger, you see their eyes overflowing with tears because of what they have recognized of the truth. They say, Our Lord, we have believed, so register us among the witnesses. This ayah pertains to a specific group among the Christians which did not have prejudice that the Jews were known for. To escape the prosecution in Makkah some Muslims had migrated to Ethiopia. They were heartily welcomed to take refuge and practice their religion. Upon hearing the ayah of the Qur’an, Najashi [Negus], the King of Ethiopia and his courtiers wept acknowledging that this is a Book of Allah. Later, a deputation of thirty came from Ethiopia came to meet the Prophet (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam). When they heard the recitation of Qur’an, they had tears in their eyes and took their Shahada as Muslims. The reason behind acceptance of truth is humility. The Christians were not arrogant therefore they accepted Islam upon recitation of Qur’an. Humility leads to acceptance of truth. On the other hand Jews and the Metrics are arrogant towards Muslims. We see the examples in Qur’an. In Surah al-Furqan ayah 41, we read how the Jews and the Mushrikeen mocked at the Prophet (Sallaahu Alaihi Wasallam), “And when they see you, [O Muhammad], they take you not except in ridicule, [saying]: Is this the one whom Allah has sent as a messenger?” Moreover, we read in Surah az-Zukhruf ayah 31, we read, “And they said: Why was this Qur’an not sent down upon a great man from [one of] the two cities?” The Hadith on Rum which mentions the war between Muslim and Christian army is not the only Hadith which indicates the breaking of the alliance. While we all seem to busy discussing the Abu Dawood Hadith about Jerusalem flourishing and Kharabu Yathrib... Malhama.. we seem to overlook the following Hadith which is more Sahih and it relates to the 2nd part of the Rum Hadith. Hadith [Bukhari: Book 4: Volume 53: Hadith 401 Narrated Auf bin Mali: Count six signs that indicate the approach of the Hour: 1) my death, 2) the conquest of Jerusalem, 3) a plague that will afflict you (and kill you in great numbers) as the plague that afflicts sheep, 4) the increase of wealth to such an extent that even if one is given one hundred Dinars, he will not be satisfied; 5) then an affliction which no Arab house will escape, 6) and then a truce between you and Bani Al-Asfar (i.e. the Byzantines) who will betray you and attack you under eighty flags. Under each flag will be twelve thousand soldiers. So to conclude; the 2nd part of the Rum Hadith does not seem to be in conflict with the Quran but maybe in conflict with Russia if we start to believe that Russia is Holy and that Putin is the DhulQarnain of this age. The betrayal only validates the true face of Magog. And in my opinion the Sheikh was spot on when he first recognised Russia as Magog. I have nothing against the Christian people; and I show no disrespect to the Christians when I say this: As Muslims we believe that there is no God but Allah and Muhammad (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam) in the last prophet. We follow the Quran and Sunnah. We believe Jesus/Isa (A) is a Prophet of Allah. He did not experience death. He will return. He will perform Salad in the Masjid behind Imam al-Mahdi. The Quran mentions he is far removed from Shirk. So he will not accept anyone who associates him with Shirk (son of God). He will follow the Quran and Sunnah. And his followers at that time must obey him and follow the truth, which is Quran and Sunnah. Allah knows best. -Deenuzzaman Choudhury 13 Rabi al-Awwal 1436 (04.01.2015) SHEIKH IMRAN HOSEINS RESPONSE TOWARDS HIS STUDENTS AFTER READING MY ESSAY: Assalaamu alaikum! 1. I am very pleased when students who are not convinced with my opinions refrain from accepting them. 2. I am also happy when they explain their views, which are different from mine. 3. Whenever I am convinced by such different views, I always hasten to accept hem. 3. People are free to accept views other than mine. 4. The one thing I will not do is to debate such differences with anyone. Imran N.
