THE IGBOS AND THEIR DEMAND FOR 2.6TRILLION NAIRA REPARATION I had earlier seen the National Conference as a complete waste of time, somehow, I still do. However, one of the best things to have been discussed at that conference of geriatrics is the proposal by the Original Igbos in that conference that the old Eastern region is paid the paltry sum of 2.6trillion Naira as reparation for the many troubles and losses the Nigerian government unleashed on that part of the country in what has gone down in history as one of the most senseless genocides in the history of Africa. From 1966 till 1970 all the other parts of Nigeria, united in a most callous carnage against the entire Igbo nations. I lost relatives in that Nigerian government sponsored terrorism against my people. My grandfather lost his properties and as I heard, his life and that of our many surviving relatives were put on hold and after the war, they all started life from scratch again. So, when I heard that our Igbo delegates were demanding for 2.6 trillion Naira reparation, I wondered if that was for just a local government or a State in the old Eastern region. This amount is rather too paltry for all the States and communities that suffered in the hands of the Nigerian government during that war. Hence, the Federal Government should not waste anytime in paying that money. They got it very cheap. If the Federal Government could pay the family of a criminal terrorist like Muhammadou Yussuf the whopping sum of two hundred million Naira as part reparation for the unexplained killing or extra-judicial killing of that criminal blood sucker, then every family in the South East who lost its member during that war should be entitled to nothing less than 1billion Naira for any soul lost. Yes, and the Federal Government had better begun the process of paying this reparation as fast as possible, to avert a scenario worst than the Boko Haram menace from the South East. They should know that the Igbo man is naturally ingenuous; undoubtedly the most intellectually and creatively endowed ethnic group in the world, hence, our troubles, when we start them cannot be contained by the whole world. We have refused to make troubles, because we know that we have the biggest stake in this country, Nigeria is the brainchild of the Igbos, hence, we have kept quiet as good owners of this property called Nigeria, to conserve this nation. But, if the other part co-owners of the Nigerian patrimony continue to take us for a ride, then, we may have no other option but to throw our cares to the winds and concentrate on safeguarding our own homestead. LET NIGERIA PREVAIL, LET JUSTICE AND TRUTH BE OUR FORTE! HE WHO HAS EARS, LET HIM HEAR!
