MY HEART BLEEDS FOR MY COUNTRY NIGERIA I was in Church this - TopicsExpress

MY HEART BLEEDS FOR MY COUNTRY NIGERIA I was in Church this morning and during the Sunday school, the preacher ended his message by saying “A Country cannot be at peace when 90% of our country’s wealth are in the hands of less than 5% of the population. A Country cannot be at peace when government only pays lip-service to insecurity in the Country. This brings me to the killing of 29 innocent pupils of Government Secondary School Mamudo, near Potiskum, Yobe State. 4 other pupils are also on danger list in the hospital. Since 2009, Boko Haram have killed (and are still killing) well over 6000 Nigerians and from the government angle, it has been series of committees upon committees ranging from fact finding to compensation to presidential amnesty committees. And as usual, Nigerians on social, print and electronic media will scream “Enough is Enough. My question is when will this enough be really enough? Where is the press statement from the government? Where is the JTF commander and the Spokesman? Where is Ruben Abati? Where is Doyin Okupe? Where is Labaran Maku? Where is President Goodluck Jonathan? Don’t the lives of 29 innocent promising pupils mean anything to us? Is this how the death of 29 children will just go down as if boko haram just roasted 29 goats in Potiskum? Who knows if BH has just killed a future President of this Nation? Who knows if BH has just killed the future Secretary General of the United Nations? Who knows if BH has just killed the future Governor of Yobe state that will transform Yobe State to New York? I was battling with sleep last night because I tried putting myself in the shoes of Malam Abdullahi, a Farmer that lost 2 children to this attack and as he wept uncontrollably over the bodies of his two boys, he swore that he will withdraw his remaining 3 sons from a nearby school. How pathetic. Section 14 (2)b of the 1999 Constitution (as amended)says “the security and welfare of the people shall be the PRIMARY PURPOSE of government. It is not enough to tell us that the economy is doing well and in fact, investors are begging to come and invest in Nigeria while Nigerians are dying in their thousands. Any government that cannot guarantee the security of its citizens should be sent packing. At this point, President Jonathan should cancel his trip to China and divert the presidential jet to USA, to ask President Barack Obama how Osama Bin Laden was killed. You can tour from China – Russia – South Africa – Korea to Germany, the fact still remains that, no serious investor will come and invest in a country that is having security challenges Edward Burke once said “All it takes for evil to thrive is for the few good men to keep silent. If we all keep silent to the death of these 29 innocent children that were burnt alive simply because they choose to be educated, POSTERITY WILL NOT FORGIVE US
