MY HEART CONDITION UPDATE: Some of you may remember that on a Sunday evening back in late January I was hospitalized for severe and persistent left arm pain. After numerous tests over two days, the cardiologist and cardiac surgeon on duty at the hospital scheduled me for heart valve replacement surgery the next morning (Wednesday). I asked for and they okayed a few weeks delay to get my affairs in order in case I didnt make it through the surgery (although they indicated a 95% chance of doing so). I was released from the hospital Tuesday evening. You may also remember that the day after being discharged from the hospital one of our pastors--Pastor Michael Tafoya--called me and prayed for me over the phone. As he prayed, he interrupted his own heartfelt but rather perfunctory prayer and rather loudly commanded that I be given a new heart valve. When he said that, a sense of well-being came over me, along with a sudden, overwhelming awareness that came from outside me...it dawned on me--that I had a new valve...that I was healed! The following Saturday morning, three days later, during her prayer over breakfast, Ardele asked God to continue healing my heart. Immediately this thought rushed into my mind—again from outside myself...again it dawned on me--it was not simply wishful thinking: I dont need to continue healing your heart, I already healed it. Based on the tests at the hospital, my cardiologist has continued to say during my monthly visits with him over the past three months that I need to have heart valve replacement surgery as soon as possible, and especially within no more than a few days or weeks at the most. Based on what I believe with considerable certainty God had told me--that my heart is healed and based on the fact that since January I have walked considerable distances several days per week with very little to no pain--only some chest pressure which goes away quickly upon resting, during my last visit about one month ago I told my cardiologist that I believe I have been healed and asked to be retested. Skeptically and somewhat reluctantly, he agreed. This past Wednesday I had a thorough electrocardiogram and echocardiogram. Yesterday was my follow up visit with my cardiologist. Based on those new tests, while not actually admitting that I have been healed, heres what he said, Your heart does not look as bad as the hospital tests indicated, and you apparently do not need surgery in the immediate future. But I want to do one more test--a stress test--to be sure. Ardele was in the examining room with me and the doctor, whose back was to her. When he said that, she smiled broadly, raised her fist into the air and shook it, and mouthed the words, Praise the Lord. PRAISE THE LORD, INDEED! THANK YOU, JESUS, MY HEALER! Ill keep you posted.
