MY HEART TO YOURS Tomorrow morning at 6 AM Donna and I depart for Guatemala Casa Vieja Lodge for the Thanksgiving Holiday. We will be back on December 1st. Below please find my Thanksgiving card to all of you. Thanksgiving card from Tred: “Thanksgiving is a time of thanking our savior for the bounty of his creation. It is a time to give thanks to the fertile crops of corn, wheat and soy beans. It is a time to give thanks for the smell fresh brewed coffee with bacon and eggs on the grill. It is a time to fill the senses from high rocky mountain elk camps to Minnesota and Michigan deer camps and white tail lodges all up and down the east coast. It is a time that in many instances fathers, sons, daughters and grandparents all hunt together. It is a time that fresh turkey graces our tables with cranberry sauce, sweet potato yams, onions, stuffing, warm cider and sometimes a thimble full of whisky. It is a time of anticipation of big snow storms, a time when the storm breaks and every animal in the forest is on its feet. Thanksgiving is quite simply a time to give thanks for what we have, not what we don’t have, not even what we could have but how lucky we are to have what we have. It is a time to pass the torch of the secrets of hunting and fishing with each other. In the tropics the subtleties of fall and winter are small but they are perceptible. The duck hunters at Okeechobee and the great sail fish migration of Guatemala. This Thanksgiving I’m thankful to be alive, I’m thankful to have all of you as friends and from my household to yours I wish you the greatest of Thanksgivings!
