Meme T Namgail (A): Though education is very important for everyone but here it effect negatively on the animal herding. Education, that our children are getting from the schools are creating hindrances for the survival of traditional animal herding of our place. Every parents love their children and they want their children to move shoulder to shoulder with everyone else, because of that we facilitated modern education for our children through schools. But I do not know why it is becoming challenges for the survival of our traditional animal husbandry. There might be some loop-hole and defect in the modern education that is why, our children are detaching from us, our occupation and our land. We are in a great hope from education that our children are receiving from the modern school, that it will brings more happiness for us, our land and our tradition. We have great expectation from our educated youth that they may improve and advance our traditional occupation such as animal herding by promoting more professional market and other avenues. Instead of that they are forgetting our tradition, even we old parents. Because, those educated person prefer to stay in and around Leh town. Now we are in a dilemma whether we should facilitate our children to provide the same modern education in future or not??? I think there is a need to provide some different education, which is relevant to our land, culture as well as the global education, which is more suitable and brings happiness for everyone like we old parents. Otherwise the same education system remain for the future, the village life is going to end. So everyone need to think on this??
