MY LOVE VISITS (A Parable-Poem, by Caroline A. Hinton, copyright: 11-29-12) You drive with excitement and control down the highway of my life. Having found me, you stop, park, get out, and come to my door. Softly ringing the door bell of my heart, you call to me. I peer out without opening, and behold your handsome smile and the compassion in your eyes; You call to me, again-saying my name in that special way; and while you wait, you smile and examine my thoughts of you. Hearing your voice, I am thrilled, yet somewhat distracted by the cares of life, and I take too long to answer. You continue to wait, desiring to be recognized, acknowledged, greeted, and welcomed, by me. You endure, wanting only to be invited in, so that we can dine together and talk, as we had planned to do. You being such a gentleman-wont force the issue, or display anger. Still I linger, not opening my heart to the one that I adore. But determined to commune with me, you stay a little longer, although you are getting tired. Sensing my negligence, I Yell: Just a moment! Please wait, Im coming! But unwisely, I take a little longer to open the door of my heart, not knowing your good plans for me. But I should know, because you are my Beloved. Through the barrier between us, I cannot see the ring of promise, that you have to give me; neither can I smell the fragrant bouquet of the flowers of mercy and peace, that you bring to me. Now as I realize your discomfort, I rush to straighten the living room of my mind: I turn the TV channel, I switch off the computer, and I take a quick glance into the mirror, while smoothing down my hair; In fear, I hide the questionable magazines under the pillow of the couch, and push bills, burdens, and papers of concern, under the large throw-rug, that is on the livingroom floor; Finally, taking a last-minute look at my heart-house, and straightening the wrinkles on my clothes, I swiftly approach the door. But before I can get there, you, having felt rejected, stoop down, lay the lovely flowers in front of my door, and walk away, with disappointment. Hearing the sound of your footsteps as you leave, I open the door abruptly, only to see you in the distance, as you are going away; I panic and cry out: Lord, please dont go. My spirit is now open to receive you. My desire is only for you; and I want only what you freely give to me. Please come back into my life! Seeing the sincerity in my heart, and hearing the regret in my voice, you stop, turn your face slightly towards me, and smile quietly (Jesus said: Behold I stand at the door, and knock: If any man (anyone) will hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him (them), and will sup (dine) with him (them), and he (they) with me. - Revelations 3:20, Holy Bible.
