MY NAME IS MARK from A LAMB IS BORN, AND OTHER POEMS MY NAME IS MARK My name is Mark, I was fifteen years, I had grown to be a man. My mind was set to follow Jesus; and I had made a plan. I saw Him in the temple, watched Him throw the tables down. Surely they would make Him king! Soon he’d have a crown! We all loved John and Peter when they came to use our room. They told us that their Master would be coming to us soon. He was coming to our own house where He would eat the feast. I asked to help my mother serve, so I could talk to Him at least. We welcomed Jesus and His men as they came and climbed the stair. We then prepared to bring the food once they were settled there. We heard their quiet murmurs, as they greeted one another. Soon enough I caught the smile, and the nod that came from mother. Going in, I saw a scene that I couldn’t understand-- Jesus, kneeling on the floor, with Peter’s foot in hand. by Shirley Amendt
