MY PREDICTION IN THE MATTER OF THE MURDER OF MICHAEL - TopicsExpress

MY PREDICTION IN THE MATTER OF THE MURDER OF MICHAEL BROWN... Now, I could be as wrong as two left shoes (as they say), but (based on what I have seen in these kind of cases); what I think is going to happen if (and I do mean IF) this matter goes to trial. Officer Wilson will be asked the following questions: a) Question: Officer Wilson, when you first encountered the deceased, Michael Brown, it was for what reason? Answer: He and another male were walking in the middle of the street and I asked them to get out of the road and onto the sidewalk. b) Question: Then what happened? Answer: As I proceeded to drive off, I noticed that the deceased was carrying a box of cigars. We had just had a broadcast about a robbery at a convenience store, and the description of the suspect matched the deceased and seeing that he had a box of cigars, that gave me probable cause to think that he was the suspect; so I backed up and blocked their path of travel to detain him. c) Question: Then what happened next? Answer: As I proceeded to apprehend the suspect, a struggle ensued. As I tried to exit my cruiser he shoved me back into the vehicle (just like he shoved the store clerk). The deceased then punched me in my face. It appeared as though he was going for my weapon, so I drew my weapon and shot him. d) Question: Then what happened next? The deceased attempted to flee, at which time I exited my cruiser and fired at him. e) Question: How many shots did you fire? Answer: I am not sure, maybe two or three. I think I hit him with one of the shots. f) Question: Then what happened? Answer: The suspect turned and I thought that he was going to charge at me so I continued to fire until he was down. g) Question: You say you thought that he was going to charge at you? Why did you think that? Answer: Because I had already shot him twice and it seemingly had no effect on him, so (for my safety) I wanted to be sure that he was down so that I could effect an arrest. h) Question: So when Mr. Brown turned with his hands in the air, you didnt think that he was surrendering? Answer: No. Examining attorney: No further questions. As I said, IF he is charged and this goes to trial, this is the kind of prepping that his attorneys will give him. They will find a way to connect his being a robbery suspect to the altercation that resulted in his death. Again, I repeat, this is only what I predict. I hope that I am wrong. Damn, I wish that there was something that I could do to be SURE that this cop goes to prison for using deadly force and murdering Michael Brown; because when Michael stopped running, turned and put his hands in the air...THE PURSUIT CEASED!!! From THAT point forward, there was no need for Officer Wilson to fire his weapon. He could have chosen to detain Mr. Brown at gunpoint until support units arrived. I am hurting because a lot more critical incidents like this will be happening simply because our brothers dont know what can happen when a cop THINKS that they are resisting; thereby causing the escalation of the force continuum in law enforcement. I will use my platform and whatever resources are available to try and educate as many as I can.
