MY PROCESS JOURNAL : Contemplating on what to write for a report on benchmarking recently conducted I decided to take advantage and maximize the self-processing. And in this decision too that i choose to be positive to capsulize the experiences gained from this endeavor. While many are overwhelmed of a prospect of benchmarking outside the country I took the risks to learn first hand , unpopular to some , the local benchmark activities in six schools. Indeed , it was a welcome surprise of many things that are truly rich of meanings. With this , I feel I cannot forgive myself not to express my deepest gratitude to these school counselors who ; a. from the start on email chats and text messages unselfishly accommodated me to push through with the plans; b. mobilizing school authorities and personnel ( security guards, office secretaries, usherettes , admin, ..) to properly received us in their prestigious schools, as well as prepared the venue, powerpoint presentations , and food , to significantly acquire discourse strengths ; c. exerted efforts to accompany us during ocular and campus tours even allowing us to observe a bit in their guidance classes ; d. remarkably generous during professional sharing on how we constructively compare our implementations of the guidance services and they expressly affirmed our own of what we have actualized ( in SSCR ) ; e. lastly , and this touched my heart , unexpectedly on days of our visits ( to different schools ) these counselors were in the middle of unimaginable stressful work and even some of them were not feeling well (physical strain ) , obligingly took time off to be with us and joyfully engaged in our benchmark dialogue. Because of this experience these counselors made me feel that I am not alone . I gained friends that I can share things I am passionate about. More than our job descriptions I learned the courage of acceptance and humility , and not be afraid to express weaknesses. These are values and things intangible in life and as educators we can only show these to our students if we start from within us. Bravo to my colleagues in the helping profession. Maraming salamat to high school counselors of U.P.I.S. , Ateneo HS , Miriam College , LSGH , Xavier School , and UST . MABUHAY TAYO MGA TAGAPAMATNUBAY !
