MY RETREAT TO SANDY POINT – 22 FEBRUARY 2014 Theres a mirror on the sand. Viewed from the waters edge the dunes are blended into the earth, from the dunes the grey wet sky and tumbling waves are one. A crisp fresh drizzle removes warmth from the air and hints at the Autumn ahead yet too soon. Then suddenly there is morning light, flecks of gold on the peninsula from the fields. Warmth again. Peace off the grid, peace from the bustling city, peace from the surf which calms me completely All of this to myself. A couple far off in the distance look like holiday makers in a French painting. My faithful friend barks at me to keep moving...he is trotting in and out of the surf, covering twice my distance. Bliss. A colony of tiny crabs scurry across the beach and suddenly disappear to safety under sand when they feel the vibrations of approaching footsteps. Well cover a good length of this beach and return to the rustic hut through the beachside scrub of tea tree covered with grasses, adorned with wild flowers and sprinkled with happy chirpy birds. And turning back to look out at the sea, the blue black clouds roll in once more heavy with rain. The pathway back is a carpet of tiny leaves and overhead the branches form an arch. Its is like a fairy tale...real but not. And the scent of oils and sea air add a further dimension to my wellness. God is good.
