MY RIVALRY WITH IGESA IS PURELY IDEOLOGICAL They say water and oil dont mix. At least that is the little scientific knowledge I managed to salvage from those science classes of my youthful days before my empty slate was filled with Achebes wisdom. Igwe Igesa and I behave like petrol and fire. We dont mix or else there will be something akin to the big bang. I hasten to remind my comrades that this difference is ideological. It does not permeate the walls of our hearts. We are the best of friends. I say this because I often come across my friends who ask me what Igesa did to me to earn a stab with my poison-inked pen. Whom do I blame for my difference with brother Igesa? Your guess is as good as mine; Raila is the source of all these woes with my brother. I have always urged brother Igesa not to follow the intoxicating rhythm of Railas dirge in the imminent journey to the land yonder. Like an obstinate child whose ears are sealed with the wax of youth, son of Igesa has refused to listen to the wisdom of Achebe and has even gone ahead to call him a witch! I will not tire in my pursuit to save Igesas doomed soul. The holy writ commands that a shepherd will leave the ninety nine sheep to look for one lost one.
