MY SICK RANT: I had soooo much fun spending Saturday in the Hospital because selfish parents send their sick children to daycare. I had to get a CT scan, chest x-ray and spend the day and night in quarantine because they thought I had meningitis. I was supposed to get a lumbar puncture (spinal tap) to ensure that it wasnt, but I was not prepared to so due to the associated risks. This was a huge health scare as bacterial meningitis is life-threatening. Many tears were shed and prayers said. Thank God that I am getting better but now I am missing even more work hours and on the largest pills that I have ever seen in my life. If your kid has discolored mucus, vomiting, diarrhea, a fever, pink eye, the flu, or anything you wouldnt want me to give to your child then DONT SEND YOUR CHILD TO DAYCARE TO GIVE IT TO ME!!! ECEs make only slightly above minimum wage and work very hard. We cant afford to miss work hours and spend our spare time in misery because you dont want to take a day off work to take care of your own responsibilities. When you send your sick child to daycare it starts a chain reaction that effects so many more families than your own. Either smarten up or start tipping your ECEs and paying for our additional health insurance and hazard pay. Now my Husband has caught whatever mutant sickness it is that I caught from the kids. Now he is missing days of work which we absolutely cannot afford. Not only that but he is from out of province and it will cost us a ridiculous amount for him to even look a Doctor in the eye. My Co-Teacher had the same symptoms I did on Thursday so Lord knows what is going on with her and her family. All because someone decided to be selfish instead of a responsible parent. Please encourage the parents of small children in your life to put the health of others before their temporary inconvenience.
