MY TAKE ON TENURE ELONGATION OF THE VICE-CHANCELLOR, ADEKUNLE AJASIN UNIVERSITY Expectedly the University is not suppose to remain the way we left it. For some of us that graduated from the stronghold of knowledge that AAUA was and is still know for, we can categorically state that the development in the university began when the bill backing the relocation from Old Ondo State to New Ondo State was signed into law by the then Governor of the State, Late Chief Adebayo Adefarati, of blessed memory in November 1999. One would expect that development is in phases and university administration is a continuum, as one VC quits, another takes over and continue from where the former stops. Development is like success and it comes little by little. Fine and lovely that the era of the current VC has transformed the university but to me nothing short of that is expected. If that is the reason behind tenure elongation for the current VC, then the proponents or protagonists of this ill-motive idea better have a rethink and look for a better excuse to advance their cause. My advice to Mr. VC, kindly honorably take a bow when your tenure lapses and dont be carried away by praise singers; most of them are merely sycophants who dont wish you well. The future is so bright for you and your wealth of experience is much more needed in other sections of the economy. I so submit.
