MY TAKE ON THE POWERFUL KHOOTBAH DELIVERED BY THE ERUDITE MUALIM: GOFIN KOSIA! Soobhanallah (Glory be to Allah)! Today (12/7/14), I listened to a powerful khootbah delivered by Mualim Gofin Kosiah. Thank you very much, Sheikh. May Almighty Allah azzawajal continue to shower His Bountiful Blessings upon you and all well-meaning Muslims the world over! Ameen. I just couldnt hold back the tears that kept streaming down my cheeks as I listened to Imam Gofin Kosiah. You are indeed a blessing to Islam. I sometimes wonder whether these so-called jihadists really take their time to read the sirat (ways) of the Noble Prophet of Islam: Sayyidina Muhamnad (SAW). I guess not; otherwise, they wouldnt be engaging in these nefarious acts that run completely contrary to whatever the Prophet lived for. Just yesterday morning on PBS, I watched a documentary on the life of the Prophet; and it was just so informative and comprehensive with even a Christian priest outlining the beautiful attributes of the Prophet. When the narrator asked a Muslim how can Muslims justify the taking away of the lives of unarmed civilians, women, children, and the elderly, his response was, When those people elect governments that mastermind the taking of Muslim lives, then they too become culpable for their governments actions; and they must therefore bear the consequences as well. I thought that was such a stupid and callous statement from someone who had just been released from a London prison for expressing those same misguided views. What he fails to know is that some of those victims dont even know anything about what their governments do and some of them are mere babies, for Gods sake! I think there is a reason why such people are labelled as extremists; and they just give Islam--a very peaceful religion--a bad rap as a result of their actions. But now the world is beginning to realize that those barbaric and barbarous actions in fact preceded Islam; and thats one of the reasons why Islam came in the first place: To warn wicked men to refrain from their wicked ways. May Almighty Allah (SWT) continue to guard and guide all of us on the right path! Ameen. Faliku K. Konneh, II, A.
