MY TESTIMONY: I SAW DEATH BUT GOD AVERT IT It was Tuesday while on my way to Abuja that a Police convoy overtook our vehicle at Lokoja-Abuja Road. After overtaking us, they were trailing about four trucks while we followed them slowly. At a point, our driver questioned the rationale for a Police convoy to be moving slowly following other vehicles and decided to overtake them. I advice him to reconsider his decision but two guys supported him and he embarked on the risky venture. Trying to overtake 4 trucks and 5 Police convoy was one of the worst decision a driver can consider even at a very straight road not a bending. When he embarked on it, behold a truck was coming with high speed and we were in their lane trying to beat the entire convoy and 4 trucks. But God will still remain God. How the truck leave the lane for us which is very unusual is something I cannot comprehend till today. After seeing death face to face, our driver was trying to negotiate with the 4 trucks and he hit the bus destroying some section of it which was better than the head to head collision with a fast truck. He didnt stop there, he proceeded with the same speed overtaking other vehicles and here comes another truck and he hit a bus trying to negotiate his way from the second truck. By then all passengers were screaming and women shouting but I maintained my cool pretending as if am a hard guy, calming them down and cautioning the driver to calm down himself. When he cleared the vehicle when approaching a bridge, people surrounded him and he was beaten black and white while others suggested for our vehicle to be destroyed. Even the Police Escort we earlier overtake was calling on the driver to be dealt with seriously. At that point, I was thinking of approaching the Army at Check Point for intervention. Over Twenty people beating one man before intervention by some passers-by. In summary, I thank God for saving our lives that the two encounter did not consume our vehicle because of reckless driving. Though am still contemplating how we escaped both scenario but in all and all, God is supreme.
