MY TRIBUTE TO NZAU KALULU When i was budding up in the beautiful countryside, this evergreen destination along the foots of Cherangany hills, my elder cousin introduced me to a way of ending a seemingly stressful day. Listening to cool, breathtaking, sensational and soothing music. He made me know of a show, a souls touching music show, a celebration of love and life; SUNDOWNER on th English service of KBC. That is when i got to know of the fruits of some of the worlds most successful conception nights; talk of Diamond Rio, Kenny Rogers, Don Williams et.al Together we would perch on an anthilll, a radio receiver between us, chatting the evening away as the sun flickered its way down to the horizon. When night came, we would drop lazily to our cottages, in full admiration and anticipation of the next day. In all these, one voice till lingers up here on my crystal ball, it will be here forever i know, the voice of NZAU KALULU. On that very first day i got to know of Sundowner, it was NZAU behind the Mic. I later came to learn that Nzau lived a life of PAIN and PLEASURE in equal MEASURE. That he struggled with health related complications that hitherto made him one of the most admired figures on RADIO and THEATER back then and even now. NZAU honorably passed on recently, after fighting a good fight, and keeping his faith, a fight and faith that put his health at test, going as grave as feet amputation. Even as we gear towards giving him a dignified send off, to me Nzau holds a very pivotal role in my undying love for the countryside, even in death. He made me see the magic of listening to soft music in a cool clean quiet sounding. The local media fraternity and the entire media content consumers will forever remember you Nzau. As we eulogize him, we keep the memories of what he used to be best at fresh in our minds RIP
