MY TRIP WITHIN YORUBALAND... By: Bola Olalekan I started my journey at Mushin Olosha, I met a man by the busstop, I said “omo Mushin Olosha, omo oni Mushin Ajina, omo oni Mushin ano doru” He was bemused but later smiled at me. He asked so wa pa? i replied mo wa o I left for Ikorodu, I saw another man, I said to him, “Ekaro o, omo Eluku meden, omo ase ale jeje bi eni ti o robirin ri” He smiled at me and said thank you. i asked if i could get alaru for my load, he replied Ikorodu o lalaru I left for isale eko. Upon my arrival, I met an elderly woman, after greeting her, I said to her, eyin lafin ju woja marin gbendege, obun woja apa sio sio. Eyo baba teyin to n fi goolu sere, Eyin oni sanwo onibode odilee” She smiled a lot and wished me well. I left Isale eko for Isolo, I met Osolo of Isolo, I prostrated telling him emoo Kabiyesi, kitigbe? He replied ogbere o He blessed me and I left. I arrived at Ijebuland. I met a man on my way, I said, “ewesoo, aku ooni o. I said eyin lomo Ijebu alare” he smiled a lot and offered me ikokore to eat. I left Ijebu for Egbaland, I met a young chap, I said to him “bawa molisabi” smilingly, he said bawa too. We were having discussion on how civilisation started from Egbaland and we got to a point we started to argue. He told me “egba meji ki jara wan niyan” I agreed, we shook hands and he offered me some delicious lafu to eat after which I left. I arrived at Ibadan, as I was wandering and perambulating about, I bumped into a beautiful lady, as I walked towards her, I said “omo Ibadan kini so?” She turned around, rested her left arm on her hip and said “so suo ni” We started to chat, suddenly, i said I wish to buy some drinks so we can chill alright, she said she wanted “sampagne” I bought one for her at an off licence around the corner, but while I was trying to align the change in my wallet, I placed the champagne on a railing so I could organise myself properly, within seconds, the champagne disappeared, as I was wondering what has happened, a woman walked passed, I told her someone has stolen my champagne that I put on the railing, she said “kini’wo na gbe beun fun?” then I remembered I was in Ibadan. I left and arrived Ijeshaland, I met an elderly woman, after greeting her, I told her eyin lomo eleni ateka, eleni ewele, omo olobi kan wowotiriwo. She laughed and made me some Iyan to eat. I left for Ekiti, on arrival, I drove to petrol station, fuelled my car, told the petrol attendant “Ora o, lule ni be n o, ke ti se?” he smiled and said “oga lu o” I left Ijesha for Offa. I went inside Ajegunle market in Offa, I saw a man eating “anomo” beside a log of wood. I said to him “eyin lomo olofa mojo, omo laree, omo buree ikan o gbodo jukan, e bami ki anomo” He was so excited that he gave me some sweet potatoes to eat. My journey within Yorubaland was pleasant, full of fun and excitement. Im glad I made it, cant wait to embark on another one. **Share if you enjoyed it**
