MY TRUE STORY: I was 4 and ½ at that time when Miss Gabriella - TopicsExpress

MY TRUE STORY: I was 4 and ½ at that time when Miss Gabriella came over and said: “Sara come downstairs, as your parents are here!” and I replied: “what are you talking about, I have no parents!”, so she smiled and replied “okay 2 people are here because they want to adopt you!” I went downstairs and remained in a corner to spy on them, as I was quite afraid and Miss Gabriella came over and said :”come on Sara, don’t be afraid, go and meet them!”, so I put myself together, run, jump on them in the 2 seats sofa where they were sitting and shouted: “mummy, daddy!”. They both look at me with tears in their eyes and said “hello Sara, how are you today?”; that was probably the first time that someone was asking me about my feelings! They brought me a packet of fruit shaped sweets from “Sperlari” and I ate them all, I remember like it was yesterday! We were all quite excited and my parents were cuddling me for the first time and probably were the first time that I received cuddles from someone! They were smiling touching my cheeks and hair. At one moment I was feeling hungry, so I looked at them and said: I am hungry!”, they asked the “people” from the orphanage to bring me something to eat and even at the day of today I am still laughing at it and call them “foxes”, as on usual day they were giving to each of us half bread roll and half “small” chocolate bar named “Chocorì”, but surprisingly on that day they brought me a whole bread roll and a whole “Chocorì”. It was a quite embarrassing moments when they brought me the food, as I said: “that’s very strange, usually I have half of each!” my parents laughed and the people from the orphanage became red like peppers! After that day my parents were coming to pick me up every morning to stay with them in their house and bringing me back to the orphanage in the evening and for me was a quite exhausting trial, as I was very happy during the day and very sad in the evening! I remember the first time that I arrived at their house: my bedroom was already settled up for me with lots of toys, which I did not have to share with the other kids! I was already quite grown up in my head at that time and I found this very touching! I remember that we went to a shop named “Il mercato della Scarpa” in “Cassano Magnago (Italy)” and they bought my first slippers which they were black and dark pink with dots and I still have them in my bedroom in Italy today. I remember that every day before my parents came to pick me up from the orphanage, I used to ask to Gabriella: “when will I go forever?” and she used to reply to me at all time: “tomorrow Sara, tomorrow”! And for me was quite disappointing, as compare to other kids of my age I had the time condition already; one day I explode and said: “yes you say this every day, but that tomorrow never come!” Suddenly one day when I was in their home (and I did not knew how to read or had a clue about the time), I was playing and I looked outside of the window and it was starting to become quite dark outside, so I looked at my parents and said: “is it not time to prepare ourselves and go back to the orphanage?”, they smiled, they looked each other and looked at me and said:”no Sara, from today you will stay with us forever!”; I looked at them, smiled, cried and replied: “really? Is not a joke? Forever, forever, forever?” and they replied back: “yes Sara, forever, forever, forever!”. That was the best day of my life! (And the second day of my life it was on 13th November 2012, when my little Andrea born!) This was a life lesson and a happy ending in the same time for me, as these teach me that sometimes the “forever” really exists! Mummy, daddy I love you!
