MY TWO CENTS As a student who witnessed much of of the - TopicsExpress

MY TWO CENTS As a student who witnessed much of of the teacher/student hanky panky in the early 70s, I need to say one thing. There were certain students who suffered terribly as a result of these events, and I respect them and their feelings. If for them it was tantamount to rape, I understand. At the same time, I knew of many relationships between students and teachers that were healthy, and where there was mutual respect. And several relationships which lasted for years, happily. I was only sleeping with other students about my age, so what do I know? This much: Dont paint everyones past with the same shocking brush. In many cases the students were mature and knew what they were doing perfectly well, and the teachers were immature, so it was sometimes a match made in heaven for some, even if it was hell for others. What people hope to gain by this discussion 40 years later, I am honestly not certain. But if they can express their feelings, which is a worthwhile goal, so can I. I am sure this behavior is not going on now-Solebury is a totally different place, and has been for many many years. For me, it was a great and creative place to be, and I treasure both the friends and lovers I knew at that time. I feel bad for those who were affected adversely their whole lives, and surprised, too. Because at the time, it mostly seemed like fun. And for me, it was. And Im not the only one. I only wish I had learned to type. Spelunking only takes you so far. laurie rosenwald rosenworld
