MY TWO CENTS —Black on Black murders in the U.S: Here are a few statistics about what’s going on in our nation. In 2010, there were 5942 young Black men killed by other African American males. Philadelphia had 223 homicides, Chicago had 337, and N.Y. had 246. I could go on but you guys get the gist of this tidbit of information, or you can look it up. Although I find this information disgusting, disturbing, and reprehensible, what I find unsettling is, where is the outrage? Where are the political, religious, and other leaders? Where are all the people that are offended by Zimmerman’s actions, yet are quiet on the magnitude of the bigger issue? I watched a variety of programs in disgust how the Civil Right Activists are up in arms over the Treyvon Martin shooting. It seems to me that the other murders are the acceptable part of living in a Black neighborhood. It doesn’t make any sense to me on any level. I don’t have an answer to this problem, but where is your breaking point when you lose so many young men in your communities. Can you imagine if you had a block watcher in your neighborhood, could you save one life? What I can deduce from this narrative; Was Zimmerman outside of the peripheral scope of what is acceptable when you kill a young Back man?
