MY WIFES UNCLE PASSED AWAY TODAY Albert Doumar, my wifes uncle - TopicsExpress

MY WIFES UNCLE PASSED AWAY TODAY Albert Doumar, my wifes uncle passed away today. He was 92. Albert and Victor, who were brothers, ran Doumars Cones and Barbecue for decades together. Victor was my wifes father, who passed away in the mid-80s. Doumars is a wonderful restaurant in downtown Norfolk, Virgina. It still operates like a 50s style drive-in and diner. The servers actually come to your car as they did many years ago, take your order, and then come back to your vehicle and hang the tray on your window. You can also go inside to dine if you like. Doumars iconic signature, however, is that the Smithsonian Institute gives the Doumar family credit for inventing the ice cream cone at the turn of the twentieth century. That distinction makes Doumars quite a tourist attraction. When visiting the restaurant, you can order ice cream with a cone made directly from the original ice cream cone machine. You might have seen Doumars featured on an episode from Driven-Ins, Diners and Dives. You can see it at this link on youtube: https://youtube/watch?v=ckynqhvV7VA Please remember the Doumar family in your prayers. -Dr. Mark Creech hamptonroads/2014/05/albert-doumar-longtime-owner-doumars-dies
