MYERS-BRIGGS I was communicating with Paul Macdonald over the - TopicsExpress

MYERS-BRIGGS I was communicating with Paul Macdonald over the weekend. Phone call and e-mails. Paul is a tennis teaching professional based in Chicago. I always enjoy talking to Paul. Smart guy. He gets it. Deep thinker. Reflective thought is not all that common in tennis teaching circles. Paul is a fellow Bradenite. He, like me, has a thirty-five year connection with Vic. We both worked overseas and in the states for Vic. Paul still connects with Vic by phone to talk tennis. Paul told me Vic had said to him, Brain-type and will are the biggest factors in determining a champion. I would add one other component to that equation with one of Vics go-to lines, You gotta be able to hit it. The inflection of Vics voice would go way up. In the old days he would follow one line up with another.Under pressure, you gotta nail that (ball) sucker. The USTA should follow Pauls wisdom. They should be calling Vic to talk tennis. A couple of years ago I was conducting a workshop in southern California and was honored to have Eliot Teltscher join us. Eliot is a former top ten player in the world and the former director of player development in the US. Through Vics influence, Eliot attempted to have personality-brain-typing incorporated into the USTA player development training. Eliot said the idea was not even considered. It should be. Todays clip covers tennis thoughts based on the Myers-Briggs system. Thanks for sharing. Steve Smith
