MYOPIA What were the soldiers thinking coming to guard the tomb of Christ? Hmmm myopia truly comes in shapes and sizes! Once during my undergraduate days, there was this lecturer that had a thing for my girlfriend! Innocent me, I never i knew I was on a watchlist of rivals who were meant to be crushed without mercy! Damn! the man meant business, I was falling into myriads of academic troubles per seconds! Funny enough the wars were fought anonymously at first, he never confronted me for once and neither did I. However i made a fatal error of judgement, I trusted someone i shouldnt have, of all people to confide in, i fell into the hands of a double spy who obviously was truly loyal to the upper hand in the race and betrayed all my lofty wishes of unaccomplishable revenge to my adversary! Meanwhile I kept flunking my quiz with reckless abandon and making narrow escape in courses I should have excelled in! I was equally character assasinated before other lecturers except for those who knew me deeper or those who didnt give a damn! Dang! things got out of hand and I decided to man it up and face my demons! So one fateful day I boldly walked up to him and demanded some explanations why i should be made to bite the dust and suffer unfairly. I threatened a counter reprisal should i be pushed to the wall! When I finished my bold threats, suprisingly the man was calm and gay , he gently asked me...... What can fire do to the back of pot? Does the rat bite metal? The rhetorical question needed no answer, I sheated my immature sword and withdrew for my own good! Although my foot soldiers urged me to dare the sun, I knew better! I love my girlfriend but I also love my certificate and the job i hope it will afford me! Besides the isnt a mule, if she doesnt wanna ride with the man, she can dunk her, but what if she wants to ride i asked myself, can my threats and bust up really stop anything? My certificate before my small ego please! Ironically my lecturer was the risen Jesus while i represented the harpless soldiers! Were these not the same soldiers that were present at the crucifixion, witnessed the splitting of the cloth in the church and the earthquake that followed! Was it not from among them that a stunned soldier involuntarily remarked that Jesus must be from God? What were they thinking, that a trap could catch the wind? Hmmm spurning history I see didnt start today! its obvious that the soldiers never gave thought to their future, their retirement, their pension or their family and what will become of them at their demise! Already they were part of the crew that agreed to have the conquences of killing Jesus placed on them and their unborn generations! Indeed man is rich in lame excuses, misplaced courage and senseless rationale to safeguard his prejudice! I choose to rid myself of all needless ego and shame if only to conform to the awe of the risen Lord! Happy Easter folks!
