Media Announcement Following on from the successful start to their coverage of the Bundesliga last weekend, Mai TV have made another announcement in relation to their other flagship event, the 2014 FIFA World Cup, with the signing of Mac Donald’s Fiji as the first of the local business houses to sign on as sponsors of the coverage. “We are extremely happy to announce that the first sponsor to step up for the coverage of the tournament in Brazil is a partner of this pedigree. The Mac Donald’s brand has long been associated with premier sports and entertainment events and we are so looking forward to working with them on the promotion of the greatest show on Earth”, Marc Santos the General Manager for Mai TV stated this morning. “Mai TV already has broadcasted other FIFA events in the lead up, including the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup from Tahiti and the Under -17 World Cup from the United Arab Emirates, but this is the event everyone is looking forward to.” “We have been receiving lots of emails and feedback through our Facebook page that people are all looking forward to watching the tournament. We have been discussing a shared broadcast platform for the event but to ensure everyone can enjoy the tournament in their homes we have requested the regulatory authority to grant us a temporary license in the Sigatoka area. If successful this will allow us to cover that area, with time to install a transmitter site and broadcast directly for the length of the tournament.” Notes: MAI TV is Fijis second commercial free to air TV network. It is fully privately owned and broadcasts using the latest IP technology. It links its services from its Garden City Studios to transmitters across Fiji, broadcasts 30% local content and has delivered Free to Air coverage of such prestigious events as the Rugby League World Cup in 2008, the FIFA World cup in 2010 and Fiji’s own local premier Football tournaments, the Fiji Fact, the Inter District Championship (IDC) and Battle of the Giants (BOG).
