MacDonalds Fiji wishes to reintroduce cheese with beef enzymes as the standard cheese for the Filet O Fish, Filet Wrap, Salad Burger, Egg McMuffin and ELT McMuffin. These items are largely consumed by Hindus. In March 2014 - MacDonalds Fiji changed to full vegetarian cheese for the above products after VHP Fiji raised the issue. Since their operation began in Fiji they served these products with beef cheese without the knowledge of the Hindus in Fiji. So on your religious days consuming a salad burger with cheese meant you were served beef cheese without your knowledge. How could a large food chain disregard the religious beliefs and sentiments of nearly 50% of Fijis population? Consumption of beef or any product with beef products in Hindu dharma is a grave sin. VHP reserves its rights and remedies in this matter. VHP Fiji requests Hindus to kindly provide us with your feedback if you agree to the change from vegetarian cheese to standard beef cheese. Or, if we do allow MacDonalds Fiji the change then should they then clearly mark on their serving boxes that Cheese contains Beef ? They may offer the vegetarian cheese as an option however, we ask why vegetarian cheese why not the standard beef cheese as an option? Please comment here or submit directly to: [email protected].
