Macedonia in the Unbroken Mirror of World History Thoughts written on the eve of The NATO Summit in WALES By Prof.Nestor Oginar , As the worlds most powerful nations gather for their NATO summit in which they will have decided the degree of the militant volatility which hangs above our heads as the ominous sword of Damocles ,I ponder with a heavy heart the future of my children ,my grandchildren,and the future of all of us who will have been affected by the decisions thereof and the response of those whom they see,rightly or wrongly as their real or imagined adversaries.I wonder at the speed our world is moving on the trajectory of uncertainty,speed which defies the natural force of gravity in our man made world filled with vicissitudes. I ask myself what have we done wrong to have our individual lives and national destinies be decided by a group of esoteric organizations and individuals who will never suffer the loss of life ,limb,peace of mind or roof above their heads.I wonder,how many more refugee camps they will build around the world before the entire earth becomes a colossal camp of torn future and forlorn hope,a desert of sand and whirlwind of the furies? As a Macedonian and a Macedonian -American i saw the perfidy of the New-World Order when my native Macedonia ,the land of my ancient ancestors was admitted at the UN under conditions which were a gross violation of the very same principles enshrined in the UN CHARTER which should have been the foundation for its existence!Macedonia was forced to gain a tenuous membership by accepting a humiliating name of The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia! Never before in the history of the UN had such a precedent been done ! Never before had a country been blackmailed into self-annihilation! Never before had the UN lost to such a degree her already tenuous credibility! And now I want to ask the Macedonian people and the people of the world who still believe in the universal principle of Self-determination to express their outrage and shout loudly and clearly:WE MUST SAVE MACEDONIA,BECAUSE BY DOING THAT WE SHALL SAVE OUR FATE IN A JUST WORLD! I would like to remind the peoples of the world that the Idea of a Greater and Better World in which people live side by side respecting and honoring each others differences was conceived in the mind of a great Macedonian,Alexander the Third of Macedonia,the pupil of Aristotles nearly two and a half millenniums ago. That idea has never died in the hearts and minds of the Macedonian people and the freedom-loving people of the world. That idea is one of cosmopolitanism and humanism,not of xenophobia,hegemony and militancy. let us all cultivate it in its idealistic and pragmatic ways.as much as we can.We can still be a part of a world order which is incomparably better than the one in which we live today with systems of values that put profit and gain before the welfare of the people.Let us all reexamine the very nature and function of the NATOS of the world,of the WALLSREETS of the world and stand tall and proud in the face of their of their insensitivity of the needs of the common man,of their plutocratic greed,corruption and selfishness,because they have dared,before the one and only GOD ALMIGHTY to imagine themselves to be the masters of our individual lives,tha captains of our national destinies and the pilots of cosmic path in which our fregile planet earth moves! Let us remind them of the wise words spoken by the worried Daedalus to his son ,Icarus before he drove the golden chariot of the SUN GOD: Icarus,heed my words.Keep the reins firmly in your grasp and travel the middle path.Do not fly too high towards the burning sun nor too low towards the restless ocean,,into the dark waters of which you will drown! Let us live in a world in which there is a Macedonia,a deserving member of the family of mankind!
