Mackenzie Update: Always end the day with a positive thought. No matter how hard things were, tomorrows a fresh opportunity to make it better It has been a busy week and everytime I think to update, something else happens, so I keep waiting. Our first big news is that I got to give Mackenzie her first oral feeding! This is going to be a tremendous struggle for her but she took 12ml on her first try! However since then, she has been too fussy or upset to really try again. That first time was an amazing feeling, to be able to hold her and give her a bottle like an average baby was amazing and we are so proud of her. That being said, she has been quite fussy the past few days. She is inconsolable at times and her heart rate has been elevated for a few days now. She had blood cultures sent, an xray, an EKG and an echo done in an attempt to figure out what is going on with her, but as of now, none of these tests have yielded any telling results. Were hoping that this can be contributed to withdrawal and not something more serious, which is what seems to be the consensus amongst her team. Yesterday her picc line that was stuck in a blood clot was successfully removed after about a half an hour of pulling. Of course this came with the scare of a piece of the line breaking off, but after 2 X-rays, we were given the thumbs up that all of the line had been successfully removed. We are not making any changes for a few days to let Mackenzie settle out and hopefully whatever is causing her extreme agitation will subside. Thank you for continuing to keep our princess in your thoughts and prayers.
