Macomb Intermediate School District - TEACHER CONSULTANT (Autistic Impaired Program) QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Master’s Degree in Education with certification in Autistically Impaired. 2. Experience in working with children with developmental disabilities, communication and educational special needs. 3. Three years of satisfactory experience teaching children with emotional impairments and be eligible for approval as a teacher consultant. 4. Ability to communicate teaching techniques and behavioral management to MISD and LEA staffs. 5. Ability to acquire, maintain, and apply educational data in a meaningful manner. 6. Ability to represent the MISD in a positive manner to the public, LEAs, parents, and other professionals. 7. Ability to work positively with other professionals as a team member with the ability to function without direct supervision. 8. Understand MDE three-tier behavioral objective system – demonstrated by writing annual instructional objective and performance objectives. 9. Must pass criminal background check as required by School Safety Legislation. ASSIGNED RESPONSIBILITIES SHALL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO: 1. Establish and maintain good working relationships with administration and staff from the MISD and local districts. 2. Work closely with professionals in the building for the students who might be appropriately mainstreamed back to the LEAs. 3. Acquire and know the educational status of students in cognitive, psychomotor, affective, and vocational domains. 4. Contact local districts to assess available mainstreaming opportunities in the LEA, including classroom appropriateness, availability, and transportation. 5. Act as liaison between Autistic Impaired staff and LEAs providing consulting services to classroom teachers. 6. Maintain educational and behavioral data on students. 7. Other duties as assigned. WORK YEAR: 186 Days. UNION: Position would be within the Macomb Intermediate Federation of Teachers. SALARY: To be determined by qualifications and experience as per the Direct Service and Degree Specialist salary schedule of the MIFT Master Agreement. STARTING DATE: As soon as possible.
