Mad. This would never work with the last sword I had with a threaded pommel. It was a spring carbon steel bastard sword and the highest quality sword Ive ever owned. The problem is that when the pommel is removed the blade is loose so if you tried to swing it as this manual suggests then youre simply going to lose your blade. I guess if you happened to have a spear you could attack with that instead, but theres still absolutely no reason to sit there unscrewing your pommel to throw it in any context I can think of. In fact I used to have to use a vice to get that bastard swords pommel on and off because obviously it had to be secured tightly if youre swinging a razor sharp blade around. I think some medieval joker must have written that bit into the manuscript.
