Madan Mahal Fort is situated on the south-western part of the modern city of Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. Madan Mahal fort is situated a top hill on rocky mountains.Carved on a huge rock as base this ancient monument is a masterpiece of architecture during Gond Dynasty. It was constructed by a Gond Ruler Madan Shah and was used as a watch tower by armed forces of Rani Durgavati dynasty. The architecturally designed rooms in front of the main structure probably lodged the military troops of the rulers who stayed here. The maintenance and protection of this historical monument has been undertaken by Archaeological Survey of India. It is approximately 515 meters above the ground. A panoramic view of the Jabalpur City can be seen from its roof.
