Made a bit of progress today. I was finally able to speak with the Intergovernmental Affairs Office of the White House in attempt to pass along, at minimum, awareness of our situation here in North Louisiana. I also made a written request to Senator Vitter to further support our efforts by contacting the Intergovernmental Affairs Office of the White House, as well. I will be following up on this next week. Additionally, Ive been invited to participate in a nation-wide press conference next week regarding this open burn proposal and the latest developments. More to come on that. Several members of the media reached out today for further comment and explanation regarding the latest letter from the EPA to the State allowing for consideration of alternative disposal methods. Still no definitive word on how such an action would affect the money; but there has been some informal indication from the EPA that they have every intent to help our State keep this disposal project funded by the feds. Thats great news and Ill continue to try to nail that down. I encourage people to keep up their spirits, efforts, and energy...we are just beginning to enter the second half of the game! (I understand a community rally is taking place tomorrow at the Farm on Hwy. 80/Talton Street at 1:30 p.m. Sounds like a great way to engage!)
