Made a shot on a big buck tonight, obviously not the best shot due - TopicsExpress

Made a shot on a big buck tonight, obviously not the best shot due to the aftermath..I got in the stand early this afternoon. I knew the deer would be on there feet with the temp change and sure enough at 330 I had a stud stroll thru just on the inside of a wood line...I had some minor brush in between us however at 75 yards and with the smoke pole in hand I felt comfortable with my shot and squeezed one off as the deer was quartering away..the deer staggered and retreated back in to the woods. I had what I thought was great blood as you can see below and gave the deer over an hour before hitting the blood trail..after tracking the deer 1000 yards( well past dark, on hands and knees, thru fields and thickets) we decided to mark our last blood and continue at daylight tomorrow morning. This deer has lost a remarkable amount of blood and its hard to imagine how it made it as far as it has..Im sure that he is laid up somewhere dead as I write this and I have high hopes up finding him..its going to be a sleepless night so If anyone has any advice on tracking him down it would greatly be appreciated..
