Made it to Austin on an American Airlines S80 (not sure who - TopicsExpress

Made it to Austin on an American Airlines S80 (not sure who manufactures it, but it stayed aloft long enough to get me & my bags from LA to Texas!), met daughter Jane & her pal Carly at the airport and so to the hotel. With Caroline Stretch Williams in tow, we all cabbed into downtown Austin in time for a slow, pricey & not-so-great dinner at the Driskill Hotel and then joined hundreds of pedestrians for the nightly bat show on the Congress St. bridge. Right around 8pm, it was like someone turned on a spigot, and thousands of Mexican brown bats soundlessly left their perches under the bridge and poured into the mild Austin air in search of lacewings, katydids & gallinippers! Post-bats we hoofed it down 6th Street, took a horse-and-carriage to 4th & LaVaca (the cow?) and had Smores for 4 at the fabulous Halcyon. Back in my room now, feet up, scratching my ear with the pen cap, waiting to find out my dance steps for Day 1 tomorrow of the Housecore Horror Film Festival. Stay tuned!
