Made it to Sheridan Wyoming tonight. Allen was correct when he said we would enjoy the two passes. The Chief Joseph was interesting for the story of how the Nez Pierce Indians used the pass to slip away from the Calvary that chasing them. Definitely got our fill of switch backs today. Only way to get up and down on some of these mountains. For beauty it is hardto beat the Beartooth. We started seeing the Beartooth about 15 miles before we bot to the intersection and got on the byway. Some sections were very narrow. Both passes were closed two days ago because of heavy blowing snow. They actually had plows out. If you look at the pictures closely you will see we could see for probably 75 to a hundred miles up on the summits. It was a beautiful clear day. Custer was a little of a solemn site understanding the impact to both sides. It was pretty much what I remembered from 50+ years ago. Had a great lunch in Billings with friends there.
