Made my filling yesterday for пісні голубці - гриби, цибуля, риж. (Holubtsi with mushrooms, onions, rice). All seasoned, more than enough salt and pepper, but.....in my opinion, theyre a little boring. I checked all the recipes out there, and I did everything right, but I guess Im looking for something that would kick it up a notch. Does anybody have any secret ingredient or tips for making these holubtsi more exciting, but staying of course, in tradition? I was thinking....maybe....of baking them in sauerkraut??
