Madelaine: Im back yall!!! Three weeks in Colorado where the heat was on and Im glad to be cooling off in Scotland again. Turning up the heat again on Tuesday though - my guest on Lowland Folk is Ellen Wade who was the lead singer with The Seekers for a season when Judith Durham took ill on tour in England. Born in Scotland, Ellen moved to England in the 60s and had a successful singing career which included appearances with the likes of Cy Grant, Johnny Dankworth, Vanessa Redgrave and Nadia Cattouse. Sadly, Ellens husband died from cancer at the age of 29 and she was left with two young children to bring up. Ellen continued to sing but did not pursue it as a career. This year Ellen released a CD Then and Now which includes a selection of tracks recorded now, and some recorded then - in the 60s and 70s. She still has a wonderful voice and is visiting Scotland with her family. I am delighted to welcome her on my show. Tuesday 7 - 9pm.
