#MadrasCafe is an immensely enjoyable and watchable political spy thriller. In spite of knowing how the movie is going to end, MadrasCafe grips you almost from the word go. Happy and glad that Bollywood which is mostly known for mindless-song-dance-keep-your-brains-behind-type-movies is also making movies like MadrasCafe. Thank you director Soojit Sircar for making such a movie and thank you #JohnAbraham for starring and backing up the movie as one of the producers. Was bowled over by theatre actor #PrakashBelawadi’s histrionics as RAW agent ‘Bala’; WOW is the word. Lissome #NargisFakhri suited her role to the ‘T’ as an international journalist. Rashi Khanna as ‘Ruby’ (John Abraham’s wife in the movie) was ok. It was a pleasure to see quiz master Siddharth Basu in the role of the RAW chief. Last but not the least, John Abraham who plays Major Vikram Singh, in the movie is good too. Based on true political incidents, Madras Café blurs the line between fiction and reality, without really taking any sides. One of the biggest takeaways from the movie is the futility of war and how it is really the innocent, common man who pays the heavy price for the machinations of the rich and powerful. Politics and war; does it make for an entertaining watch? Yes! It is an intriguing watch for sure. Give it a pass, if you are looking for candyfloss song -dance typical Bollywood fare. A big screen watch for sure, because it is only when you watch MadrasCafe in the movie hall, do you feel the thrill and the pulse of the movie and also get to appreciate the photography. youtube/watch?v=2squf_KeKU4
