Magic Rises ARC Giveawaypalooza Posted: 19 Jun 2013 07:34 AM PDT Hey guys, happy Wednesday. It’s that time again, Magic Rises will be released at the end of July and we have ARCs to give away. An ARC is advance reader copy of the book, which still has some mistakes and lacks final edits. We took a bunch to RT back in May, and there was one auctioned off for charity, but we still have two. What we would like to do is give away one copy to a US fan and one to a reader residing outside of the States. I wish we had more but them is the breaks. A question we get a lot, other than what is it like to write together (it’s just awful, btw) is why we chose to set the books in and subsequently devastate Atlanta. There are several reasons really. First and foremost is that we knew it well, better than any other large city like NYC or Chicago maybe. Growing up in the mountains of NC, Atlanta was the nearest really big city. For Ilona, going to a private school in GA it was the same. We drove through it to get to Fl, we flew in and out of it, and later for our jobs we would be sent their for training and meetings. The second reason was that as far as we knew at the time, nobody else had set a UF series there. Anne Rice used New Orleans and LKH’s Anita Blake was set in St Louis, MO. My worst memory of driving in Atlanta was when we had to go through it on our way to Savannah. Ilona was with the kids in the car, they were still little, and I was in a huge moving van, the biggest one that U Haul had, towing our van behind it. It was like driving a semi truck with Samson, our old boxer dog, along for company. I was behind Ilona and the kids when she missed a crucial exit. I had a moment of panic, wondering if I should take the exit or keep going. I took the exit and she as able to get turned around and back on track, but it was very scary for me, I don’t know about Ilona. (Ilona had to take the exit and it sent her over some railroad tracks into a rough neighborhood. – Ilona) MagicRisesARCWe also chose to move Magic Rises mostly out of the familiar setting of Atlanta. It starts there but then Kate and crew are off on an adventure. If you were writing a series and chose to drastically alter a place, it could be a small town or a big city, what would it be and why? Terms and Conditions We are trying something new this time around. Below you will see two widgets, one for US readers and the other for international readers. Please enter through one widget only. If we see double entries, you will be disqualified. You will have four chances to enter the giveaway, but you don’t have to take them all if you don’t want to. We will announce the winners on the blog and contact them through email; however, because the ARCs are in high demand, if you do not respond to us within 48 hours, we will choose a different winner. Should you win an ARC, we ask that you respect the reading experience of others and please not spoiler the contents of the book. If you don’t respect this request, we will sic the Internet on you. :) PS. If this goes terribly wrong, we will do blog comments again. For US rafflecopter/rafl/display/8e96902/
