Magnolia, Texas people are awesome! Heartwarming Thanksgiving - TopicsExpress

Magnolia, Texas people are awesome! Heartwarming Thanksgiving story here: I wanted to write this for Woodlands Online but cant wait. The girl Linda rides horses with gets on some local sites that provide calls for help from people in the community. Being from Magnolia, she found one that included a Mom and her son living in a travel trailer across from a warehouse off 1488. The mom wrote that her husband and dad to her son picked up and left them for another woman and they were being evicted out of their trailer and the property on December 8th. She added that although they have nothing, she has some work opportunities and hopes to have them landing on their feet hopefully sometime soon. Her call for help was in hopes that someone out there could possibly supply them with some goods to enable her to cook her son a Thanksgiving dinner. Thats all she wanted. She wasnt asking for money, a job or nothing that would help them crawl out of the hole they were in...She said.....just the means to cook my son a Thanksgiving dinner so we can give thanks for the very few blessings we do have. She added that her and her son dont leave the trailer much other than to go to the church across 1488. Lindas friend, Jamee called us and asked if we would like to come help pick up the food donations from the people she had contacted through her email list (all from Magnolia) that responded that wanted to help. So, Linda took me and Connor and we chipped in a pumpkin pie and met Jamee. One house we went to in Magnolia gave a 19 pound thawed turkey with all the trimmings ready to go that was for their own family. Others gave assorted goodies to round out what will be an awesome dinner for these two people. ....So, we drove to the property and to put it nicely Ive seen better conditions at town dumps. The former man of the house left all of his broken down machinery scattered all over the property. It was a Pickers nightmare. We met the mom and exchanged pleasantries and I walked over to where I saw the 8 or 9 year old boy with his dog. He was just outside of a dilapidated lean-to and I asked him how he was and if he liked football and he said hes a Texans fan. I said, well Im not but I brought something for you and handed him a Mini-GB Packers football. He smiled. Then he brought me over to his makeshift workshop and asked me what I thought about the crosses he made. There were about 10 wooden crosses. He said, I go to the church across the street and I am almost done with them and hope to be able to sell them to help my mom out. At that time, I couldnt hold it in any longer and tears gushed out of both my eyes. I turned so he wouldnt see me. I felt he needed strength from everyone in his life. I composed myself and started talking to him again. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw seven beautiful puppies all huddled up together in the corner of that lean-to. I asked how they are able to take care of the puppies...also a cat and another dog. He said they have plenty of food for them and his aunt works for a vet so they get help with the pets until they can find caring people who want to take care of them. It was about time to leave so we were giving hugs and we got in a circle and my son the Youth Ministry major led us in prayer as we all held hands. We said our goodbyes after that and left. On the way home, my son looked at us and said...Those two people are way better off than a rich person living in a mansion with no faith. End of story. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
