Magpies Fume At Arsenal Over Cabaye The Magpies had planned for the season with Cabaye in their ranks, and were dismayed when Arsenal bid a paltry £10million for him just hours before they began their own campaign, with a humiliating defeat against classy Manchester City. The Gallic string-puller is now unsettled, and Magpies manager Alan Pardew- already a major candidate for the sack- could not pick him to face City last night. Newcastle have now accepted that Cabaye will be sold, and will hope a bidding war erupts over his services, culminating in a fee closer to £20million. It will be interesting to see if miserly Arsenal can stomach paying that much for a player they only deemed necessary after losing to Villa, or whether their reported rivals for Cabaye’s signature- PSG and Monaco- will simply blow them away like a puff of smoke from a Gauloises cigarette. #Mdue
