Mahasamar progresses -------------------------------------------------------- Jones Mohalia is known for his work as director of such movies as ’Duranir Rong’, which offered a fascinating tableaux of images, ’Bohagor Duporia’, an enormous success at the box–office and ’Jugantarar Tezal Puwa’. Now after a long gap, he has returned with a new commercial venture titled ’Mahasamar’. Recently, Mohalia canned an important shoot as part of his new movie ’Mahasamar’, which saw the whole–hearted participation of a huge number of people, carrying banners and placards observing World Environment Day, held each year on June 5. Environment is at the top of the agenda for the congregated mass. Everyone aspires to live in a world which is in harmony with its environment. But then it is money over people, money over environment, money over everything. Forests are cut down at will for monetary reasons, without people realising its dangerous effects on the environment. Deforestation is one of the major causes of global warming today. This particular sequence shot at Tezpur locations carry the message of awareness and change. Director Mohalia is known for creating social awareness other than entertainment in his movies. ’Mahasamar’ is produced by a cultured lady from Tezpur, Heera Gohain, under the banner of Siddhartha Telefilms. The film’s story and script are written by dramatist, lyricist and tuner Dipak Nath. The film, according to director Mohalia ’’a tale of good–versus evil’’, throws light on social injustices and life’s harsher truths. The various artistes of ’Mahasamar’ are Nipon Goswami, Junu Baruah, Dinesh Das, Rita Mohalia, Ratul Das, Aimee Barua, Dipak Nath, Bikash Bharadwaj, Arun Hazarika, Atul Pachoni, Khanjan Nath, Lakhi Barthakur, Nirodh Choudhury, Subhash Mudok, Dhan Bharali, Barnali Nath, Amarjeet Hazarika (Raja), Mukul Saikia, item girl Erina, etc. Besides being message driven, the film has got ingredients like romance, action and comedy. It was shot in the panoramic locations of Tawang in Arunachal, Shilghat, Nameri, etc. There’s an item number performed by a professional dancer from Ukraine named Erina. She has been a part of number of Bollywood films. The film’s music is scored by Diganta Sharma. All the songs are written and tuned by Dipak Nath. The songs are rendered by Shanta Uzir, Kollul Barthakur, Nirmali Das, Priyanka Bhorali, Dipak Nath, Rupam Bhuyan, Babita Sharma and Rantu Saikia. Songs are choreographed by Jini Mohalia and Ashim Gogoi. The film is cinematographed by Krishna Shah with the Red MX camera. The film’s editing and dubbing works are already completed. Editing is done by Pranjal Kashyap. The film’s chief assistant director is Pranab Hazarika. Veteran director Jones Mohalia aims to pose issues for discussion besides entertaining in ’Mahasamar’.
