Maher about the movie Moses... Its about a psychotic mass murderer & his name is God....Hey God! you know youre kinda a dick when youre in a movie with Russel Crowe and you have anger issues... I saw this yesterday and, to be honest, I wanted to go all Westbrook, Old Testament on this. I want to take it point by point - understanding that I dont have all of the answers and, yes, some of this I cant fathom. Knowing nothing I say will persuade him (or those who agree with him)...but this morning I heard something that explained Mahers position to me. despite all the beauty in the world and all the life in the world and all the blessing that comes from being alive, the world at times will look chaotic and out of control and there will be heart break and loss and suffering that feels to us to not jibe well with a God who loves us and though it looks chaotic to us, it NEVER looks chaotic to God. EVER! ...He is never going, Oh no! What now...God governs the chaos. We need to put roots there....because the worlds broken...when youre confused and its hard to reconcile the goodness of God with your circumstance...
