Mai Khao Lak Resort, Thailand - New to Chic! Description and Location Mai Khao Lak Resort is a new resort, opened in 2013 and became instantly popular. A good first class hotel, family and fun focused and very well priced. It is located on a superb ten mile stretch of soft sand beach, 15 minutes’ drive north of Khao Lak village, and 80 minutes’ scenic drive from Phuket Airport. Accommodation 200 suites spread over the main building and villas. All are brightly decorated in a fresh tropical design and are spacious, with at least 55 sq. m of total living space. The deluxe junior suites, with integrated living area, are on the higher floors of the main building with angled sea view. The pool access deluxe junior suites are on the ground floor. The garden villa suites are single storey rondavel shaped, again with living space within the spacious bedroom, and are located between the main pool and the beach. A few of the villas also have their own plunge pool. Chic Check – Not deluxe, quite intentionally, although the accommodation certainly compares well against many of the more expensive resorts. The emphasis here is on activity and fun, family focused yet with appeal to couples as well. Extensive facilities to be enjoyed, and the beach is superb – just miles of soft sand.
