Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) stands above the lot. There have been campaigns to destroy him based on the errors of his 1983-1985 era when he was younger with military authority. I believe some of his radical and non-conformist stance must have been reformed by age, lessons from democracy and consequences of some of those actions of his first era. Surely, a President Buhari cannot be worse than that of others before him. And surely too Nigeria will see more pursuit of the anti-corruption war rather than using the anti-corruption agencies against perceived political opponents. Nigeria lost a president in Obafemi Awolowo who even if from a sick bed would have ruled Nigeria better than Alhaji Shehu Shagari and who knows, we would have avoided the present problems facing the nation. My fear is that we may lose Buhari also to those evil forces.
