Current Situation The immediate threat to properties has eased but firefighters continue to work on the fire and contain it. Strong winds caused the fire to flare up this afternoon and burn towards homes in Cliff Drive, Brougham Street, Essendene Road and Moss Street. Two homes have been destroyed by the fire in the area of Cliff Drive. A small number of other homes have been damaged. People in the area around Cliff Drive, Brougham Street, Essendene Road and Moss Street should continue to monitor the situation. Know what you will do if the situation changes. Firefighters will remain on scene throughout the night. The fire continues to burn along the cliff face below Cliff Drive. The fire is inaccessible in this area. Crews will be working tomorrow to contain the fire where it is safe to work.
