Major Movie Reviews – *New Movie Release* Jimi: All Is by My Side (R) (Mystery/Suspense) Now Theaters Friday ‘Jimi: All is by My Side’ is a risky approach thats bound to frustrate many folks, but its also quite illuminating in its own way. This film is a flawed, ambitious and deeply peculiar portrait of one of the 20th centurys most enigmatic musical talents, in the year before he ascended to rock-god status, which resembles no other pop-music biopic youve ever seen. Director John Ridley clearly has some reverence for his subject, and even if the film exists in a gray area between fact and fiction, it deserves credit for creating its own rhythm, much like Hendrix himself. Actor Andre Benjamin captures Hendrixs nodding swagger, his effortless cool, and most important, his voice - going beyond mimicry into some other, spookier realm. The films own spontaneous experimentation provides dazzling context for the musicians impact on the world. MRR gives this film 3 out of 5 General Officer Stars. Movie Story Line: A drama based on Jimi Hendrixs life as he left New York City for London, where his career took off.
