Major Sins in Islam •——••——••——• The major sins are those acts which have been forbidden by Allah in the Quran and by His Messenger (صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ) in the Sunnah (practise of the Prophet), and which have been made clear by the actions of of the first righteous generation of Muslims, the Companions of the Prophet (صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ). Allah says: ►If you avoid the major sins which you are forbidden, We will remove from you your lesser sins and admit you to a noble entrance [into Paradise]. sura AN NISA chapter 4 verse 31 Thus by this verse, Allah Most High has guaranteed the Garden of Paradise to those who avoid the major sins. Allah says: ► Those who avoid the greater crimes and shameful deeds, and, when they are angry even then forgive; sura ASH SHURA chapter 42 verse 37 Allah says: ► Those who avoid great sins and shameful deeds, Only (falling into) small faults--verily thy Lord is ample in forgiveness. He knows you well when He brings you out of the earth, and when ye are hidden in your mothers wombs Therefore justify not yourselves. He knows best who it is that guards against evil. sura AN NAJM chapter 53 verse 32
