Major designers, for one, have embraced fur, particularly designers in Italy, France in England. The council counts more than 400 top designers who have fur in their offerings, compared to 40 in 1992. Fur use also has broadened. It’s now incorporated in everything from scarves to purses and parka trim. “It makes it much more accessible,” Herscovici said. Another factor has been the emergence of new markets, with furs exported to China and Russia.
