Makapaela Community School Handed Over To The Community On Friday 25 October 2013, Nalumba Investments in partnership with Henwood Foundation handed over a community school worth K235,000.00 to Makapaela Community in Western Province. Nalumba Investment Director, Ms Nelie Mutti said the two organisations decided to construct a classroom block after observing that over 50 pupils in Makapaela Community were learning under a tree until the New Apostolic Church allowed them to use the Church in the area. Mrs. Nelie Mutti commended the New Apostolic Church for playing a bigger role in ensuring that the children in the area had access to education. She also applauded Henwood Foundation for agreeing to partner with Nalumba Investments in bringing education closer to the people of Makapaela by donating school materials. Mrs. Mutti, who grew up in Makapaela, said the construction of the classroom block is a dream come true as she had always wanted to make a difference by ensuring all children have access to education. She also disclosed that a one by three classroom block and five houses for teachers will be built, adding that once that is done, a high school will also be built in Makapaela. Henwood Foundation Executive Director Tebuho Yubai said his organisation considers education as one of the key strategic thematic areas citing, contributing towards access to equitable educational system for all as the number one strategic pathway to development. Mr. Yubai said Henwood Foundation has contributed in infrastructure development, provision of educational materials and providing financial support for education because it believes that education is key to any human development. The Principal Education Standard Officer (PESO) Mebelo Muyapekwa Nyambe thanked Nalumba Investments and Henwood Foundation for making a difference by coming up with infrastructure that has added beauty and value to the province. Mrs Nyambe disclosed that the Ministry of Education will, therefore, provide Makapaela Community School with two trained teachers and that the District Education Board (DEBS) will provide housing structures for the two teachers. She urged the community to guard the school jealously as it is their property. The hand-over function was graced by Apostle Ingombe Ananyatele, who said the donation was founded on the love of God who continuously teaches that love for the neighbour is very important.
